Wedding Song?

My daughter is going to be Maid of Honor at her friend's wedding later this month.  Instead of doing a toast at the reception she wants to pull out her guitar and sing a song for the bride & groom.  (Pretty bold move I say.)  Thing is, she can't find anything appropriate.  She doesn't care for the old Peter Yarrow "Wedding Song" and nothing comes to mind for me either.  Ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Wonderful Tonight is a good wedding song.

Depends on the ages involved. But I'd go with the song by Wet, Wet, Wet from the soundtrack to "Four Weddings and a Funeral". I think it is called "I Can Feel It In My Fingers". Very nice song. Good for a higher pitch voice. And the movie association with weddings is well known.

Brave girl, by the way.

Try "I Wandered by a Brookside" by the late great Eva Cassidy.

Or. The Water is Wide (Her version or James Taylor's version on you tube) or Shadows by Gordon Lightfoot (CHeck out Allison Krauss and her version on you tube.

Here's Allison Krauss and her band. Note that Tony Rice plays a nice lead solo between versus two and three. Sounds great as a solo guitar and vocal only tune too. One of my three favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs ever.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.  I'll pass them along to my daughter.

"The Kind of Love You Never Recover From"  by Christine Lavin

An amazing song.  Maybe a bit too poignant but such a fine song.  The only version of it on youtube is a cover that doesn't begin to do it justice so no YT link.

Here is a link to a web page that has it as an embedded tune (funny thing is that the embedded version presented is not the recording of it on the album they show):

As a bit of trivia - she played a small body Larrivee a bit around 1990 after trying one out at a store in Spokane when she was through on a tour.

"If not for you"   Bob Dylan   Here is a link to George Harrison doing it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8P65y8iuNc

Congratulations.  My daughter is getting married Saturday.

I did this for a friend two years ago - I played Blue Rodeo's "Lost Together" it was the Brides favorate song and I felt it fitting when you listen to the lyrics.

Just my two Canadian cents

Although it may be better for an anniversary than a wedding, I love "Outlasting the Blues" by Arlo Guthrie. Don't see a video of it on the web, but I really like it! Ends with ...

There's a wedding down at the church this morning
Let's go wish them well
It's a beautiful day for getting married
I hope the weather lasts as well
It's been years since we been married
I know we paid some dues
But ain't it something just to lie here together
Just me and you
