Well this the official 6,500th post for me. I may have well over 7000 when you add in all the deleted ones.

So I figure that's as high as I ever want to go. And I'll begin deleting from this point on. I've said plenty of sarcastic and plain ole dumb things, so It will be easy to find posts or whole threads that I started to delete.

No big deal, just thought I'd let you know why my posts will be going down now. :donut

Danny we are fortunate to have you around. 6500 posts holding nothing back. All are appreciated making this a better place :cheers

Way to modest my friend. But I look forward to the future with many more of your great posts and thoughtful reflections. :wave

Good, you can start with this one  :rolleye:

I guess I'm confused, why would you want to delete threads and posts???

Well, it's just that I got to this post count so fast and I don't want this high of a count. It's just something I've been mulling over for a while now. Others who have been here for much longer than me have a fraction of the posts I have made. It doesn't seem right to me anymore.

Hey Danny!

Let me encourage you to leave your posts and threads intact. There's a principle at play here.

You can't rewrite history.

If you delete entire threads - you delete other peoples posts too and that just doesn't seem right.
If you delete your posts - the you remove context from other peoples' posts.

You will never know how deep your tracks are out here on the internet, but to me at least, it seems disruptive to try and change the past.

Please take this from someone who has many many many times the number of your posts scattered hither and yon (and babble, blather, and yawn) all over cyberspace.

I wouldn't delete any threads with several pages and only posts that were not relative to the content.
Like I said, I have mulled this over for a while.
For instance during the wait for the F-IV I posted many remarks that were unnecessary and just due to my impatience. They were off track and negative. So I'd like to clean that up.

Hi again Danny,

I understand the rationale, but I am of the mind that words once spoken are a gift to the cosmos. You can't really take them back. Once you have said your piece and others have read, considered and perhaps even responded - then you don't really own those words anymore.

To me - words are words but context adds relevance, value, perspective, a frame through which I can see those words. If you go back and remove context then you diminish that which followed it in the first place.

Thanks ST. I will just remove my "rants" and "rubbish". But if someone responded I will leave the posts.
Or just MODIFY the post.

I guess if you think about it, that's what I want to do. ie MODIFY my posts.

Modified :winkin:   I don't mean make me look better, just take out the garbage and clean house, so to speak.

Well that's your right, to do as you wish but I agree that content can be skewed with "house cleaning" even rants. I often have found nuggets in your posts from time to time that I go back and re-read.

Well, I guess it may be best to MODIFY my thoughts here.

Thanks to all who responded. Leaving things as is seems to be a better idea than what I had come up with.

Time for a dose of reality my friend.   I guarantee you that you are the only one who cares about how many posts you've racked up.   It's just a number.. nothing more.    I'm one of the folks who always read what you've got to say on any subject because I'm interested in your take on things.  Once you start trying to go back and change things you are on a slippery slope.  Leave the posts as they are.    We don't care if you hit 10,000 by the end of the year.    We're not keeping score.      :bgrin:

Thanks for the advice Lynn.

Did you see the post about the F-V poll?  I remember you saying that the F-III and your 000-50MT were pretty close in the feel of the size. But I wondered if I remembered that right.

Hey Dan, congrats? A number I'll never see, or others, so wear it proudly! Don't change a thing, as we are what we are? :+1:
