Hi,

Hi there,

I am the (proud) owner of one Larrivee guitar, and I am looking to buy another one - a Parlor.  I found a used Larrivee Parlor and want to find out a little more about it, if you can help me.

It is a flame maple b & s Parlor, serial number 71494.  The seller can't tell me much else about it.  I asked about the model listed on the guitar and all he could tell me was 'Parlor' - I was expecting a Pxx where xx would be 01,03, or something like that.  I am very interested in whether it is 1.75" nut width, which I need.

I have also contacted Larrivee for more info, but any info anyone can provide here would be appreciated.

BTW the seller is asking $499 for the guitar....

Thanks,

Doug

Many thanks,

Doug

I'm pretty sure Larrivee just called them Parlor guitar when they first came out. The p-01 and p-05 etc moniker came later....

So it could be just a Parlor.
Larrivee 00-70
Gibson Advanced Jumbo  - J-185 - J200 Jr.
 National Resophonics  M1 Tricone
 Eastman MD-904 - DGM-1

I have a 2001 model and the sticker just says Larrivee Vancouver etc, no model number.
I wrote Larrivee and they said the model was O-01. The P series is a recent thing after the wild popularity of their parlours in the past.
2001 Larrivee O-01
2008 Larrivee L-03 SP (All Sapele)
2010 Larrivee SD-60 Natural

1949 Gibson 125 (haunted with tremendous MOJO)
1978 Gibson "The Paul" (First Run solid WALNUT)

1970 Yamaha FG-300 (Red Label Nippon Gaki)
1972 Yamaha FG-240 (Red Label Nippon Gaki)

1977 Univox Hi-Flier Bass (sunburst, short scale)
1975 Harmony dreadnaugh

Doug:

My guess is that yours came from the same run as mine which says Special Edition on the label and there were 100 made according to customer service. Your SN is real close to mine.

I have to dig out the warranty card  and file to see a copy of the e-mail that I saved and to get more detail but mine has a satin finish and a short scale.

I have the Larrivee summer/fall 2005 catlogue which shows the P-05 with gloss finish. Specs show 24 inch scale and 1 & 3/4 neck. I think I have an older catalogue hear but can't lay my hands on it at the moment.

Yeah like my 1975 Larrivée concert standard is now an L-09. My parlor was a rosewood special edition. They've gone backword.  :laughin:

Only the first 100 (maybe 200) parlors had the narrow 1 11/16 nut.  All of those were mahogany, so it's a pretty safe bet than a maple one would be 1 3/4"

Thanks everyone for your helpful information.  From what I gather the Parlor I'm looking at is a flame maple special edition, most likely with 1 3/4" nut.
The store has it reduced from $699 to $499 which if the condition is excellent as they state, it seems like a hella-good price.  There is also a return policy if I don't like it.

It seems like a decent deal, except I shouldn't be looking for another guitar....  :bgrin:

That's close to what I paid for mine new in 2004 but I upgraded to a hardshell parlor case and kept the gig bag for my Giulietti Guitar made by the Giulietti Accordian Company in Italy back around 1969. I have never found or seen anything about the Giulietti Guitar on line or anywhere else but it's pretty sweet for a $100 guitar.
