I want to get a passive pickup installed in my P-03.

FYI...

I have a K&K Pure Passive in a Martin OM16GT
I have a K&K Pure Passive in a Martin D-15

I Have the K&K Pure Preamp.  Sometimes I use the preamp and sometimes I don't

I also have a Fishman Passive under-saddle in a Martin D12 X1 12 string

My luthier is telling me that I should go with another K&K Pure.....have raves about the K&K's ability to bring out the color of the tone wood and guitar style.

I'm not sure.

The Fishman resists feedback a lot better.  The K&K may have better tone.

I can get the K&K installed (parts and labor) for $150.

This is a one time deal.  When it goes in....it's going to stay in.

Is the K&K Pure system still the cat's pajamas system when it comes to putting in a decent passive system??

I play through a Fishman Loudbox 100 for small gigs.

I have a Yamaha 200 watt powered mixer and two JBL 15 + horn cabs for bigger gigs.

I appreciate any input here.

If I take the guitar in on Monday or Tuesday I'll have it back by the weekend.

Thank you for the input,

John

My OPINION...  and worth every penny paid,

For moderate levels and for a sound that is "like the guitar, just louder", the K&K can't be beat.  If the setting is louder (i.e. a rock/folk rock band setting with a full out drummer and such), a more feedback resistant setup *might* be a better bet.

A real plus for the K&K (in my experience) is that it sounds great straight in to many guitar amps and especially to acoustic amps like Ultrasound.  It's often better with a K&K preamp but it is very (very) good without.

I'm with you Ed.

I need to hear that from others.

Once the work is done it is staying.

Thanks.

K&K in my L-05, OMV-50, and OMV-03R.  My P-03 is on the way and if I install a PU it will be another K&K.  Nothing short of completely satisfied. :+1:

Thanks for posting your review of the P-03 and the video.  Really enjoyed both and it added to my giddiness!

The K&K Pure Passive is in the guitar.  Sounds warm and full and fantastic.

Thanks again!

Great to hear you're happy with it!  I'd venture to guess that an 0 or 00 may be an ideal body size for the K&K pwm.  Enjoy!   :nana_guitar

I am a big fan of UST pick ups..
They are simple and reliable... I like the Baggs element pick up
I've never tried the K&K PWM.. but a lot of people swear by them.

Gday mate,

Ive also heard that the K&K XLR preamp is a vast improvement over the std K&K pure preamp. Ive had no actual experience in this, but that was suggestested to me when I was considering K&K products.

I ended up with an under saddle pickup. Ive tried others, but always end up going back.  :+1: on the Baggs Element, one is going into my new Martin. C'est la vie.

Cheers, scott.

Another vote for the K&K PWM.  Just installed one in my P-09BZ.  Very happy - warm toneful sound, especially through the Baggs Para DI.
