"One small heart, and a great big soul that's drivin"

ohhhhh lala... if it only was cutaway..... and even better - he say's it's red sitka not adi on the top of that madi...

Oh.. evil, evil, evil person!!!!

There's still two of these OMV10's un-sold in Japan last time i looked....

I was looking at the one's in Japan before you got your's, and i am so glad you bought this one, because i don't think i could have resisted it!

And you love it, so it should be in your hands....

Now that the new has worn off a bit... was it worth it to search out a red sitka/madi OMV10 - when compared to your red sitka/irw OMV10?

I Suppose i could use (abuse?) buy it now, and have my own comparison session between the OM10 on offer, and my OM19... but i would still be missing the cutaway....

And yea he's had a lot primo stuff on offer so far, this being one perhaps the iceing on the cake... maybe somewhere in that stash of bling there's a red sitka/madi LSV11...

Now for that i would be abuseing buy it now, and letting the pieces fall where they may ;-)

"Given the location (Oxnard, CA).....and the sales history on eBay.....one has to wonder.......some truly primo pieces over the past few months.  I've been watching every auction he has. "

I have speculated on who HE is. It's kinda like "fretkiller" on you tube.

    d. when I went to Oxnard I saw a LSV-11 custom. But I don't remember the wood combo's. I just remember it
because Jean had just said they were discontinuing the LSV-11's and then I saw that one in production.

I have only played one OM  Larrivee in EIR  that began to put a spark of interest in me. It was an OM-60 in Vancouver. I continue to pick up the models I come across, but have similar feelings to yours. (that's part of why an OM-21 stays around my place)

What importance do you put on the madi -vs- red sitka?

Was your OM19 red sitka? (It's most likely the OMV10 is not)

thanks!

The one on eBay is GONE.

What happened to the auction? When I saw it yesterday it was sitting $1100 with three days to go. And there was no buy it now available....weird.

The BIN option disappears once the reserve is met.    I suspect he canceled the auction after somebody offered him a side deal.     Fess up.   Who bought it?

In my opinion/estimation, the difference is the Madagascar solely.  It just has that clarity, immediacy, punch, and bell like qualities reminiscent of Brazilian.

Hope this helps.

:cheers

certainly helps to fuel GAS!

Many thanks, i am very happy with my OM19 (red sitka/irw) and am really only missing a cutaway.. like you i am usualy not happy with a sitka/irw larrivee, this one makes me happy tho ;-)

So my thoughts are - how much of what makes me happy is the red sitka, and how much is the build of this particlular one? and therefore, what should i be looking at to replace this with something similar, or better -but- with a cutaway?

Matthew's take on red sitka is;
QuoteThat guitar top is Red Sitka Spruce, not Adirondack. The "Red Spruce" was a 1-of-a-kind genetic anomaly tree that we came across. The normally yellowish spruce was a deep red color, and the wood was EXTREMELY rigid. We yielded something like 400 guitar tops out of it, and they have been used mostly on special editions. For example Japan ordered 100 of our -10 series guitars with that red spruce for their 40th anniversary.

You may have the best of all worlds.. a cutaway, an "EXTREMELY rigid" red spruce top, and a back that has "clarity, immediacy, punch, and bell like qualities reminiscent of Brazilian."

Lots to think about, including the two still for sale in Japan, and what i would have to do to get one... they are asking 4.4K CDN for them, so likely that is out of the question as it's well into Webber/Morgan/Paragon/Northwood teritory

Besides, there's a used LSV11 out there that sounds pretty good as well ;-)
