I haven't been around here for a while due some travel and family situations, but I'm back home and ready to do a string change on my L09K.  I had everything done and was placing the guitar on a stand, and damn, out of the corner of my eye I can see it falling over like a felled tree!

Luckily, no damage was done to the instrument, but one of the white buttons on my Gotoh 510 tuners was broken in half.  I managed to glue it back together, but it wasn't the cleanest break, and I want to replace it with a new button.

I'm pretty lucky that nothing more serious happened, but I can't seem to find a source for purchasing just the button.  Can anyone help me here?  I can't believe that manufacturer doesn't offer replacement buttons, and a new set of tuners would be a pretty expensive fix.

Thanks,

jimmy

Try LMII.com (under 'mostly not wood', then tuners, they have a selection of Gotoh buttons I think). Stewart-MacDonald (stewmac.com) or AllParts.com might have some as well

Probably have to order a whole new set of buttons rather than just one though.  Lucky you - a chance to change colors...

Good luck

:+1:

I guess it could have been a lot worse.  Let us know where you do eventually end up finding them.  I'm sure you won't be the last to need buttons.

Yes, I'm thinking that it'll be a chance to change colours, as LMI has a nice selection of custom wooden buttons, but no white ones.  And I don't mind buying 6.  It's just that I would have preferred white ones...

Here's a link to the LMI wooden butons:

Jimmy, check this thread out. You may find what you want here, apparently not inexpensive but very nice quality.

:+1: LMI is the place. They got some fancy ones..... :cheers

First, I would like to thank all of the members who took the time to help me locate a new button for my Gotoh 510.

Yes, LMI has some nice ones, but I was hoping to get a set of white (or ivoroid?) buttons to match what I have on the guitar now.  The price of the ebony buttons at LMI is worth about half of the cost for an entire set!  It's nice to at least have this option so I'm not complaining, and I'll probably get a replacement set or two from LMI in the end.

Stewmac has indicated that Gotoh does not supply replacement buttons - ever - but were gracious enough to tell me that because they guarantee all of their products, they would strip a button from a new set and send it to me if I had purchased the tuners through them, which unfortunately, I did not.  I have to say that this speaks large about their commitment to customer service.

I'll post later to let you know what I've done.  It just seems strange to me, however, to think that anyone who has broken one of these buttons (believe me, it wasn't hard) cannot order a replacement.  I can't be the only picker with a set of these (pricey) tuners who has ever broken a button.
