I was passing by the Bridgeton Missouri GC this evening and decided to pop in since I'd been hearing commercials all day on the radio.  I was just in a week ago, but I was amazed at how much stuff had gone out the door since then.  Especially since the prices seemed about the same as usual to me.  But I digress . . . Anyway, finding nothing that interested me I decided to check out the acoustic room before I left.  Funny thing was, I thought to myself, "It'll be my luck there'll be an awesome Larrivee in there and I'm tapped out after Christmas and property tax."  Sorry, I'm digressing again . . . So I go in and sure enough, there was a used LV-10K .  Must have just got there as it wasn't there last week.  It had a torch and vine inlay on the fretboard - not the one with torches on frets 3,5,7 etc., but this one pretty much ran the length of the neck.  Also had an angel inlay on the headstock and an endpin A/E setup of some type.  Koa sides.  Price was a steep, but within sight of just plain high at $2699.   I didn't play it since I was afraid I'd be too tempted.  For the record, I have absolutely no affiliation with either the guitar or the store, just passing along the sighting.  I will say, however, I hope someone buys it since the last two times I've made similar postings, I wound up buying the guitar myself.   But for that to happen this time the price is going to need to come down quite a bit.  So, any takers?

Still there as of last night.  So, i decided to try it out.  The Koa back and sides seem to make it pretty bright.  Actually worked well for fingerstyle.  However, it seemed a little too bright for my taste when strumming with a pick.  Plugging in to an SWR California Blonde required rolling off a lot of treble and keeping the volume fairly low.  I'm pretty familiar with this amp as I have one at home.   Pretty guitar for sure, what with the angel headstock and presentation style torch inlay on the fingerboard, but not worth the price to me - at least not yet!  I had gone in with my checkbook and would have written a check IF a) I had liked the sound a little better and, B) they would have come down a bunch.  Oh yeah, I looked inside at the neck block for a serial/model number.  I couldn't find one since the neck block was covered with pick up stuff.  The label indicated, however, that the guitar had come from the Custom Shop.  I didn't realize Larrivee had one.  One other thing:  I found the elaborate fingerboard inlay a little bit disorienting.  As a result, I had to depend on the neck's side dots far more than I usually do.  In talking to the salesman I always deal with I learned that the former owner once owned 12 or 13 Larrivees.  Lately, he's been selling off his collection and at least 2 of my 3 Larrivees were once his.  Anyway, if anyone is interested - its still there.

My D-03koa is a great bluegrasser. I also have one of the LV10K's but really don't play it much. Its too pretty to get pick scratches on

"Its too pretty to get pick scratches on."

Can't argue with that.  One picture  = 1,000 words.  http://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/details.cfm?listId=104569121   Once again, no connection with guitar or store.

He needs to put pictures of the koa in the forsale ad. The Japanese might pay twice the asking price as they particularly like koa.
