Hi all,

This is my first post and I just wanted to say hello.  I am getting my first Larrivee tomorrow.  It is a P-09.  I love small guitars and I am very excited about this purchase.  I would like to hear from others that have a parlor and what their experience has been, maybe some changes they have made, strings they used, etc.

Thanks,
Erik

Erikro:

Those of us from over on the dark side (UMGF) who know of your struggle applaud your choice! I'm also new to Larrivee (while I've been in the Martin world for decades) and am waiting for delivery of my own Parlor & first Larrivee, a P-10MQ.

Great guitars; I'm sure you'll love it. :+1: :nana_guitar :nana_guitar

There's no conflict and certainly no shame (UMGF). I have 2 Larrivee Parlors (one is a P-09) and I have 4 CFMs. They all get along together. The parlors are a lot of fun and capable of some serious music.
Welcome to the Larrivee Forum, and enjoy your new guitar, Erik.

Aloha from vancouver Erikro, welcome to the forum. I bought a P-09 rosewood in april, also my first larrivee. I use only john pearse 80/20 lights. The guitar was a little tight sounding at first, as is to be expected. Since then its come along quite nicely, its able to handle louder playing styles without breakup as time goes on. The tone just gets deeper and richer, I love mine and hope you enjoy yours as well  :cheers.

-its all in the ear of the beholder-

Welcomed to the forum!

I've had my parlor for a while now, and love it.  It's the perfect guitar for me to sit out on the back deck with, and strum away.  I also play it alot during the winter months, as it's a nice liittle break from my other axes. I use it for flatpicking and fingerstyle, and it really sounds great.  Very versitale guitar.

I don't know if you're getting yours new or used, but I originally had light strings on mine, but decided it sounded and played better with mediums.  If it's new, I believe it comes with mediums.

Look forward to hearing what you think about it, and congratulations!  :thumb

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes.  The guitar is great and I had to stop playing it last night because my fingers were getting sore.  Might be because I am used to coated strings though.  It is a beautiful guitar and sounds great already.  It is a keeper for sure.  I already mailed in my warranty card.

Erik

I'm on my third parlor.  Still have two.  The P-09 is an excellent guitar.  I find the rosewood takes a bit more time to break in.  Once it begins to dry out a bit it really shows its abilities.   The Walnut one is also a wonderful instrument.

Be prepared for sore fingertips.  I aquired a P-10QM from another forum member a few months ago and it has hardly been out of my hands since. :nana_guitar

That's what I'm expecting.  Just in time, too.  My Martin 000 goes into the shop on Tuesday.

BJ;

which 000 do you own and what work are you having done to it?   BTW, the incoming Parlor sounds like a winner, be sure to post pix and a review

I have a 000-16SGT and she has wonderful tone.  She's having new tuners put on (Waverly open back) which are purely cosmetic, at least interms of why.  The stock tuners work fine. The Waverlies look much better and are better tuners.

I just received the P10MQ.  Played "Sail Away Ladies" and a "G Run Boogie".  Right out of the box, a wonderful & very balanced tone.  Very easy to play.  And, altho it'll take me a while to fully inspect her, the workmanship looks flawless.  Cosmetically, this is a truly beautiful guitar; the pics I saw online don't do it justice. Seems small, after a week with only my 000 (I often play a Martin LX1, which is smaller than the P-10, but its been a week since I've played it).  Did I say how beautiful the P-10 is?  WOW!  Well done, Larrivee!  :niceguitar:
