I am selling my La Due, and probably buying the L-03 (of course I'm still agonizing over a L-03MT).  I want to add a pickup to one.  I will be wanting to record with it, so I'm not sure which will sound better.  My guess is the L-03, but the OM-03R is more comfortable to sit around with.  I'm also wanting to amplify to play with a few friends every once in a while.

If you owned both guitars (OM-03R and L-03) and wanted to add a pickup to one, which would you choose and why?

Sold my OM-03R to dcarey(aka Old Geezer) and he seems to like it a lot.  I had tried it with an LR Baggs M1 active but didn't like the sound.  Sold the guitar because I had always thought the OM was the ultimate for fingerstyle...took me three OM's over 5 years to figure out that the OM is the not the ultimate fingerstyle for me.

My L-03 is, well, quite close to being my favorite guitar I've ever owned.  It's awesome for strumming, with a pick or just with my fingers, and it is an awesome fingerstyle guitar as well.  Works well for all sorts of musical styles as well.  I've got a K&K mini in mine and I love it.  Great for playing live but I wouldn't record with the K&K however.  A good condenser mic would do a much better job.  Even without a preamp, the K&K is great.  Warm, natural and with decent output considering it's a passive pickup.

My $.02 of course.

I put a KKK pur western mini in my L-03. I did not like it until I bought a LR Baggs Pre Amp. Now it works great. I also own an OM -03R. I decided to go a different route with the pickup. I put a Fishman Dual Element (I think). It is a soundhole pickup with a mini mic attached. This sounds great when fingerpicked, when I strum the mic picks up arm swishing sound. This was about 300.00 but I can put it in any guitar. That was another reason for purchase. I think it would record fine, just not the perfect acoustic guitar's sound.
