Strap button placement

Hello,
There seem to be a number of schools of thought about where to place a strap button on/ near the neck of the guitar.  I have a Larrivee OM-02.  Any suggestions on where I should consider placing a strap button?

I'm far from an expert but I cringed when I saw the button screwed into the body of the guitar in that last picture. I opted to use a strap that clips around the headstock to avoid any additional guitar piercing. But that's mostly a matter of personal taste.
