By no means do I claim to be an expert, nor do I go around measuring guitar nuts, but that seems like a rare animal.  Have you thought about playing a 12-string as a 6?  I did that with my Guild (13/16" nut, if I remember correctly) for a while, and it felt as if my fingers had plenty of room.

Not the most aesthetically pleasing solution to your problem, but maybe something to think about.

I have a Martin CEO5 with a 1 3/4" nut for sale....even have pics ready....

Martin model D-18S and D-28S had 1 7/8 nuts, at least the ones in the 60's and 70's did.
