I'm glad you're digging your guitars.

The light versus heavy thing is something I don't touch on too often, even though I've thought a lot about it. We're all playing different guitars, and we all attack the strings in different ways. This makes it difficult to draw conclusions from each other, IMO. I still enjoy discussing it though. Let your own experience be your ultimate guide for what works for you.

But the one thing I think most of us can agree on: barring running direct (for EQ reasons) or needing a guitar to take to the beach, a grossly overbuilt guitar isn't good for anyone! Again, it's where the weight is, or isn't, that matters most.

I can help you with the difference between Standard and GE bracing, as I've owned variations on these guitars from Martin. You can look up pics online, the Standard bracing has the scallop starting farther down the lower legs of the X brace, whereas GE bracing has that scallop starting closer to the X brace junction. Authentic bracing is similar to GE bracing, but is even more refined (lighter). Also, with each step towards the Authentics, you get a smaller bridge plate (lighter still). All these changes make a big difference in the response of the guitars.

Thanks for describing the differences with these Martin bracings. Most videos just mention the term without describing what the difference is. I've had this love / hate thing with Martin due to their QA issues. That is why I have stayed with their 15 series (no binding). Buti like the way they try different things.
