YouTube Intros.

One of Ben Franklin's maxims was: "Let thy discontents be secrets."  Just to be clear, I intend to break that maxim here and now.

YouTube intros are driving me bananas.  I will go some a video looking for info on a product or to do a guitar lesson, and there is always some kind of intro just after the video is introduced.  This has got to be one of the dumbest things I've seen in the modern world.  I can assure anyone with a YouTube channel that NO ONE wants to see your intro.  Not even your mom who loves you dearly.  No one.  It's only clever to the owner of the channel.

If you have a YouTube channel, PLEASE stop making these intros.  They serve absolutely no purpose.  The do nothing for your "brand."

Ok, I'm done.
:wave

I dislike them as well, save for a couple notable exceptions where they have a great intro that amps me up for what is a half hour or hour long show.

There's a couple reasons why they do them. One being that brand identity is important to getting subscribers. Who subscribes to a guy talking about crawl space insulation? I don't know. But there's a couple channels like that with hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

Another reason for intros is that they want to hit the 8 minute mark for monetization, and every bit of filler helps. So many of them are just annoying though. They feel like an ego trip, even though they might not be. Oh, and they're usually WAY TOO LOUD. I'm really glad YT has the double tap to skip ahead feature on mobile.

All that makes sense.

Same goes for podcast intros.  They are annoying and useless.  There is a podcast I like by a fellow called Jocko Willink.  He starts out the show saying: "This is Jocko podcast number so and so, with Echo Charles, and me, Jocko Willink.  Good evening, Echo..." and THAT IS IT!  He has one of the most popular podcasts out there, and no fancy music or other bologna to get in the way.
