"Senior" member means "old" right?
Like over 50?

Too many guitars to list here.
Too few brain cells to be bothered with...

always the one out of step with the world, I found Prince's over the top, show boating antics in that video, around what I might consider a somewhat "sacred" memorial show, way out of place and off putting.
From my place, it almost appeared that prince, with ALL of his Largess, was using the tribute for his own ego fulfillment.

I'm sure I'll be chastized for saying so, but I'm a fan of a more subtle way of guitar expression.......

just my 32 cents worth.

I think a rock and roll memorial show in and of itself is a pretty wild concept and if the participants behave like rock musicians, there should be no offense taken.  If it was supposed to be honoring his memory in a somber way then they needed to cut the rock act entirety.  But, that wasn't the case and I don't see anything wrong with him giving the fans what they want.  That is who that show was truthfully for after all, the fans.

I'm not a Prince fan and have never bought any of his music.

But, just as when I heard "While my guitar gently weeps" for the first time, I was very impressed with the weeping licks being played. If  a person only heard the R.&R.H.F. version without knowing who played the second solo. I believe most likely the listener would be quite impressed.

Exactly.  I posted it to demonstrate the solo from a technical, musical, and interpretive standpoint.  How he performed it didn't bother me personally.  I can see why some would be irked by it.  I didn't find it to be that much over the top anyways.  Not any more so than Jimmi playing with his teeth or behind his back or setting his guitar on fire.  :laughin:

Jeff Healy did some equally if not better playing in his version of "My Guitar Gently Weeps"
"Badges?  We don't need no stinkin' badges."

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.

Speaking of Prince's performance, I think that he could have been playing just about any guitar and done as well.

Perhaps that's why he's playing a Hohner instead of a Cloud or a Stratocaster or a Telecaster.

did you get the matching "rug"?

Um ... no. Although I think, like Trump, that's his own, for what it's worth.  :laughin:

That's my take.

Long ago, when making guitars, I had a young Prince fan who wanted me to make a Heit guitar (like Prince played at the time).  After gluing up chunks of wood and cutting and shaping the body, rough cutting the neck, and routing the neck pocket, he came back and wanted to make changes...  which would have changed where the bridge went...  and made the neck no longer useable.  He was a Prince fan, not a guitar player, and he didn't understand the physics.  That was when I decided I wasn't up for doing custom guitars.

I wasn't a Prince fan before that experience, and I think that pretty well solidified my lack of interest in what he did.

"Partscasters" seem to be a big thing now, and it makes sense.  I saw a Squier tele at a recent guitar show.  It had the gun oil glossy board which I love the look of, and it was cheap (under 2 bills). I almost bought it for a partscaster but I have no outlet for electric playing and don't even own an amp anymore. I'm mainly a mandolin player anyway. Still it was tempting!

Yeah, I'm a partscaster guy, basically a custom guitar, exactly to your specs, for reasonable cash.  Here's my 2.
