First things first:  :donut :donut :donut2 :donut :coffee

Hi! I am a long-time Larrivee player. I first became aware of Larrivee after hearing Bruce Cockburn's Circles in the Stream and seeing the guitar on the cover had a cutaway. Not many guitars in the Seventies had cutaways. In fact, the only higher end guitar I had heard of with a cutaway before that was Gurian.

I purchased a cutaway L-26 (that's what it says on the warranty document) in May of 1980 (made in Victoria in 1978). There were very few Larrivees in Washington State in those years. In fact, two of us who bought one from the only store in Washington were asked to perform short sets to demonstrate to an audience how good these guitars actually sounded.

I used the guitar for recording and touring through the eighties. Everywhere I went people would ask about the eye-catching look of the guitar and even more about the unusual and gorgeous sound. I convinced Jean in 1987 to make an L-28 cutaway for my wife and musical partner.

Last year, I decided to purchase a 'basic' L-03R off of Ebay for playing out locally, so I didn't need to risk my 37 year old instrument. I expected it to be OK, but was surprised and delighted that the guitars were still as awesome as ever.

My style is a mixture of jazz, folk, rock and I switch between single line and chords, picking and fingers. I have yet to find a guitar that is more VERSATILE anywhere.

I keep playing really nice high-end instruments here and there, yet I haven't yet found anything that can 'check all the boxes' like my Larrivees. I feel like I've been spoiled forever and now unable to play anything else.

Welcome.  :thumb

I know the feeling. Maybe its cause I'm more familiar with the guitars I have, but  the Martins, Taylors  etc. I pull off the wall at Guitar Center always leaves me "meh"
Glad you're as content with your Larrivees as I am with mine.

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.
