I mentioned that I was doing this in another thread and promised that I would post with pics when I did so.

First off, the before shot

The tan line

And the after

Gratuitous back shot

For whatever reason, I didn't like the stock guard on this guitar, something about too much orange, who knows, but I really prefer the Greven Medium that is on it now.  It wasn't a perfect fit, but pretty darn close.  This is the standard D-28 size Greven Medium.

Next up, bone bridge pins, when I can afford em.

Very nice, I'm not big on pickguard upgrades but this looks very attractive. Nice job.

It looks like a perfect fit from the photos. Out of curiosity, what was the motivation to change the pickguard?

I think it was because he thought the old one had too much orange in it.....

That and I just didn't like it for whatever reason.  Didn't have enought character or something. Ultimiately though, it was for strictly cosmetic reasons, so my guitar owners insurance refused to pay for it.  :arrow   I'm happy with the end results, and I think thats what really matters.

I liked the before.

And I also like the after!!

A classy guitar like that will make any PG look good.

BTW how did you get the old one off, and what glue did you use to stick the new one on?

To get the old one off I used the hair dryer method.  Let the hair dryer lossen up the glue for a little bit, then, wihle continuing to keep the heat going, slowly slid an old credit card underneath until it was totally off.  Then, had to spend some time with some naptha and several paper towels to get the rest of ths sticky stuff off.  As to applying the new PG, the pre-cut Grevens come with adhesive already applied, just need to peel the backing off and stick it on.  I also used the tape method that Frank Ford describes on the frets.com site.  helps to make sure everything is lined up right before actaully applying the new PG.
