A friend of mine has a sweet sounding, all-mahogany L-03.
I think it has a unique sound for a Larrivee.
Does anyone have a L-03 hog?
I don't think you can beat the 03's in the Larrivee line...

Yes sir, Fredmando,

Last week I got a nearly-new L-03MT hog top and I'm quite impressed. I have to say that I don't really "know" the sound of a spruce-topped Larrivee. This is my first and haven't really come across any except some poor examples (very dried out, all had sharp protuding fret ends and one even had a major crack in the top) at a Sam Ash over a year ago.

Having said that, I agree with you - the 03's can't be beat. One thing I have noticed is a similarity across the Larrivee sound clips posted here in this forum. For sure you can hear differences between the mahogany and spruce topped models, and the rosewood and mahog bodies (and body styles), but if these are truly representative, there defiinitely is a signature Larrivee tone. It's nice - my example is very balanced and I love that L body style!

Wondering what others might think about a "signature" Larrivee tone.

Hope your friend enjoys it for a long time to come!
