Just today received our 3rd Larrivee, a 2016 D40re from PEI in eastern Canada.
I'm in Vancouver and it has bounced across Canada in -15 weather for 10 days. Pulled it out of the box, the wood smells new & the guitar was almost in tune. It sounds fantastic, really punchy just like the new one I had tried in the store. This is a 63rd birthday present to myself
First thing I notice is there is a gap in the heel joint with enough separation to put a thin piece of paper in. This totally freaks me out. I go to my local guitar shop and show it to them. They say don't worry the joint appears strong. I'm still upset cause I want it to be perfect. I'm thinking if it is a joint problem or issue I may have to send it back across the country :crying:
So I email the Larrivee factory at 7:30pm and include pictures. Within ONE HOUR they email back to explain what is going on and not to do anything to the joint (was thinking of putting hide glue in, which I know how to do). They explain the gap is cosmetic, it's not supposed to have glue there, humidity is the culprit and the hand fit joint is the 'toughest and tonally superior neck joint on the planet'. He said just enjoy my new guitar.
Positive feedback now left on reverb for the seller. I think I will now enjoy my new guitar as suggested by the Larrivee factory, perhaps with a small glass of black rum. It's been a long day. :wave
Congratulations on your acquisition! This is why Larrivee is so much appreciated.

:+1:

Humidify it for a few days and that gap will likely go away...

Happy birthday, btw!

Congraulations on your new guitar and Happy Birthday to you! :donut2
Happy Birthday and congrats on a fabulous guitar! :gotpics:
I would love to post pictures.
The pictures are on my ipad and laptop but can't get from there to the forum. I get error messages like wrong format and picture too large. My images are jpeg but it only takes jpg or gif. Figured I'd try on another computer but I can't sign on even with trying a password change. More error messages logging in or changing my password. Seems to be a world of technical problems to post a picture although I post pictures no problem on talkbass, ebay etc.
Oh well, will try again later. Maybe if I put them on a third party site and link to here. Hmmmm
Well, sure. What else is new? :cheers
Congratulations Casey on your new to you D40re, and happy birthday as well. I will be celebrating my 63rd birthday on the 17th.
