Alvarez guitars are well-known for their fit/finish, playability, and tone in the under $1000 market. This one is a particularly good deal because of the rarity of the solid mahogany top. The RF20SM is very similar to a Larrivee OM03MT or a Martin OM15. If you've ever wanted to scratch your all-mahogany itch, this is a great chance!
This guitar plays beautifully and has a wonderful tone. It projects extremely well and has strong, bright fundamentals (as hog tops are known to have). What surprised me most about this guitar was the great bass response. The satin finish and OM body style make it extremely comfortable to play.
Simply stated, this guitar is in 100% condition. The only alteration I made after purchasing it brand new was removing the black pickguard (which made the guitar even more beautiful). It has absolutely no dings, scratches, or scuffs. The Guardian case ($129 retail itself) is a perfect fit and is quite value itself. It is a 5-ply archtop case with a padded leather handle and chrome hardware.
