Title: mxl 990/991
Post by: guitarforlife on November 23, 2005, 09:38:45 AM
anyone have any personal experience with this set of mics. mxl 990/991. they are sold as a pair where you get them both for a decent price. i will be recording with cakewalk pro audio 9 which is installed in my computer. i realize i need a interface unit with phantom power. i've been using a cheap little plastic mic which is pretty lame, but at least i can record. want to step up a little.

I have never tried either of those but just bought, not yet recieved, that new Audio-Technica AT2020 condenser mic.  Luckily, the Tascam DP-01FX I got has phantom power XLR inputs.  I paid just under $90 and they retail for $169.  I had read good things about it so I decided I'd give it a go.  But, in my search for a cheap condenser, I seem to remember reading good things about the MXL models you mentioned.
