After trying to convince myself that my fingers would shrink to fit the 1 11/16 nut of the Alvarez MD95 that I'd just bought 4 weeks ago, I realize "it ain't workin'" I need something as smooth to play and as great a sound .... but with a larger nut.
The MD95 is the top-of-line model in the Alvarez MASTERWORKS series, highest quality production model before Yairi's. I chose this guitar for its sound, playability and build.
Basic Features
Body Style Dreadnought
Back/Sides Solid Indian Rosewood
Top Solid Engelmann Spruce
Finish Natural
Body Binding Maple
Fingerboard Rosewood
Fingerboard Inlay Tree-of-Life
Tuning Machines Gold Die Cast
Bridge Rosewood
Sound
Solid ROSEWOOD sides and back provide a nice rich tone. Sustain is strong but not overpowering. Beautiful sound unplugged. Equally nice plugged in.
Playability
I only play finger style and the neck on this guitar is what sold me. Action is low. Neck plays smooth is silk.
Build
Gloss finish on top, sides and back. Satin finish on neck. Maple binding shows wonderfully between the Englemann top and Rosewood sides. Vine of Life inlay along the fretboard is beautiful.
Condition
I only play finger style so no pick marks, No gigs. Light brushes on pickguard from fingernails, otherwise new.

I purchased this MD95 a month ago from Cheshire Music and added the Fishman UST before taking delivery. Since then I bought Brian's (Whitey_Johnson) Larrivee OM-01 and found the nut and neck profile to fit me perfectly. Looking to trade for a Larrivee L-03R or OM-03R. I will pay shipping BOTH WAYS to lower 48 for the right trade.

I have had a couple of opportunities to deal with Steven, and he is a great guy to do business with. :GRN>
I also had an Alvarez MF90, the OM version but without the great inlay work. These Masterworks guitars are top notch, the rosewood on mine was well figured and very punchy. I still remember the sound...
The best deal I could find was on an internet store and I paid right at $800 plus shipping, and the MD95 is harder to find.
A good deal here for someone!
Thanks for the plug, Brian. I am in love with the OM and you can be sure she is in good hands.
BTW: I lowered the price on the MD95 to $650 and kept the $300 in extras. Check it out
