Field Effect Transistors are noted for their tube-like character, and pleasing overdrive entry and recovery. This means you can drive it hard and not get harsh clipping.
I built one, and it is great!Cheap, too... under $8 in parts. Get a K & K off eBay to use with theis, and and endpin jack and battery clip/holder, and you get the best sound for the least money.
