Title: Couple of small issues with new format
Post by: LittleBrother on June 07, 2005, 10:33:07 PM
Congrats and thanks for all the hard work. If I had any suggestion it would be to allow links that people insert into posts so they are noticable. If we make a URL tag it just blends in with everything and requires more wording and stuff to point to it. I've been bolding them but it's something you can enable with maybe a blue color or something. Second issue I am having is how to click a thread from the index and get to the last page and post of a thread. I may be just missing something and if I am please set me straight. Thanks again for all your hard work. I think the flat grey look is easy on the eyes and does make color pictures stand out. I've been having to log in more than I should have too. And it's kinda intermittent. Gotta love software eh? I manage a different brand board software and have seen this. I am not sure where the problem lies. Maybe it will go away.

LB,

Under [Profile] there is a (look and preferences) option where newest replies will go to the top.

I agree on the links.  I'll work on changing that.

And don't forget, this is new software so we should expect it to "open up", right? You know once the bits and bytes have a chance to settle in it is going to work better. I also heard that grey takes a little longer to "openup".  :TON>

the "Show unread posts since last visit." doesn't seem to work reliably for me.

What seems to work well is choosing the folderĀ  Forum Index. clicking any forum with a BLUE colored ball, and then reading any topic with a BLUE (new) icon next to it.

Randy,

I have the same issue with new posts. I also just noticed that the "time logged in" doesn't seem to be accurate. I haven't logged out since yesterday, yet it shows a total of 6 hours.

It only counts the time you are active on the forum, not just the amount of time that you have been logged in.

i thought that 'show most recent posts at the top' is default behavior, doesn't it automatically sort the threads by last post? [edit: nevermind i just found that this option reverses the view of posts within the thread, not for the overview of threads within a forum]

what's annoying me is that threads that have changed since my last visit are no longer highlighted, so i have to look at the times to see which ones have new posts. [in other words de-highlighting 'old' threads i regardless of whether or not i viewed them last visit] the 'new' tag seems to be just everything that i haven't expressly clicked on to view before, which is slightly different. is there a setting for this ?  i can't find one

I'm not following what the difference is......... could you clarify please?

NEW tag appears on threads that have new posts since the last time i clicked on the thread itself

highlighting (the way it used to be) highlights threads that have new posts since the last time i visited (thus all are highlighted after a certain date/time cutoff)
