Title: Staying logged in
Post by: bing4sons on June 04, 2005, 11:26:26 PM
I'm being logged out, everytime I close down my internet explorer session.  Is this just me, or are others experiencing the same thing?

I came up against something like this. As soon as I found the new address I went and made a bookmark. I didn't log in until after this point. Then I went to another forum and came back here from the bookmark. It turns out that I had to log in all over again.

I'm confused why this happened. Isn't there supposed to be a cookie saved on my PC whenever I log in?

So here's what I did. I logged in and then made a new bookmark. I checked by jumping to another site, then coming back here and I found that I was still logged in. Now several hours and a PC restart later I'm still logged in.

When you log in there is a drop down box just to the right of your password that can be set to "log in : 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, forever"

That's why I use Mozilla :)

You may need to reset your browser options to accept cookies. Regardless of browser type, if cookies are not allowed you will need to log in each time you start up.

Hey, no problems with Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.etc on my laptop.  I just returned from some errands and upon getting to the forum was already logged on.

But it take longer to bring up the opening forum screen.

HOWEVER, I LIKE the new look.  Well done!    Whoa, so now I can upload pix?  Cool!

Where, besides paypal, can I send $$ to help out here?

FNG,

You definitely have a browser configuaration issue. I have no problem with either Mozilla or (just tried it) IE 6.0.28, even after rebooting.

The other forums seem to work fine, and I only will need to log in when I clean up the old disk.  My cookie setting is on "low", so this cookie aint' cutting it... ^_^

I think this actually was a server issue.  I'm pretty sure that everything is fixed now.  Some people may have to change their bookmarks, but the problem should be fixed.  Let me know if there are any other issues.
