Could the answer to this question just tell about your taste in music....or is it much deeper than that? Hmmmmm.....
Discussing extremes here. Who's music did you go bonkers over (maybe even become a bit obsessive),
Versus: Who did you dislike, just didn't get, or just couldn't get into....even somewhat to your own surprise!
example: Me: LOVE/OBSESSION:Beatles; Yes; Riders in the Sky;The Bobs.
Didn't "get": Grateful Dead. Phil Collins. Joni Mitchel (My wife's favorite, by the way).
Give me bit.I'll go with your's.I do like Joni Mitchel to a point.Way to many to mention I don't think there's enough band withd here.
Don't get most of the new stuff.Disco though I did play guitar in a band that did it.Again way to many, most of who I've already forgotten B)
The thing that got my playing guitar was a song by fellow Texan, Eric Johnson. the song is called "cliffs of Dover." I was totally obsessed with this song....memorized every note....and that's pretty much the reason I started playing the guitar. Jump forward in time 12 or 13 years....you guessed it, still can't play it!!!
Music that is less inspiring to me....or music that I just can't stand. Most anything by U2, Steely Dan, and Santana...I just don't get it....
sc morris...
U2---your not into pissin and monin
Santana----not on the rite drug's,me either
Steely Dan----don't take this wrong but I'm not into sex toy's. B)
Hmmm...
Obsession with: The Band, CCR, Uncle Tupelo, Jayhawks, Son Volt, Whiskeytown, Wilco, Dwight Yoacham (I love that American sound!)
Don't Get: Eagles, Pure Prairie League, America
QuoteU2---your not into pissin and monin
that's about all I've seen Bono do.....what a jerk. He claims to be a "Christian" and really have his act together as far as what's important in the world. And then, as the good example he is to young people, get's on TV and drops an "F bomb"....while he's usually puffing on one of his little "cigarillos".....what a loser.
I was once a really big ABBA fan...ok, ok stop throwing stuff at me :o
I also used to like the Carpenters a lot...i said stop throwing stuff
Now days i can't say i have any strong inclination toward any performer/group but i tend to prefer full orchestral movie soundtracks or modern instrumental music and not surprisingly i like acoustic or classical guitar solos.
I don't think i could ever find any enjoyment with anything rap...
poki B)
QuoteI was once a really big ABBA fan...
What are you talking about.....I AM an ABBA fan!
"see that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancin' queen...."
Oh yeah!!! B)
LOVE: classic Beefheart/Charley Patton/ Arthur Lyman DISDAIN: Van Morrison
sc morris I refer you to my words in another section.

Calling all Texans...there is STILL an ABBA fan among you...nevermind the law, just take care of buisness...
poki :D
I think I'm the only person on the planet that doesn't care for:
Springsteen. Or Clapton (Since Blind Faith, and maybe "Layla"). Or U2.
I do like Sting, Jonny Lang, George Benson.... And I'm reeeealllly into Antonio Carlos Jobim and the Bossa Nova rhythm thing, so much so, that I think I'm gonna take some lessons. How's that for eclectic?
I have to throw out my favorites at the moment: Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams (mostly his acoustic stuff, although his electric stuff is pretty good) and the Jayhawks. I still listen to the Beatles, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, CSN&Y, and the Indigo Girls quite a bit. I love anyone who has good harmony, and good acoustic sound, no matter how simple. Most of the whiskeytown and Ryan Adams stuff is pretty basic, but it just sounds good and not over-produced. Jason.

Gotcha....I'm a little slow... ;)
QuoteRyan Adams
Genius.... I wish he would lose the whole "screw the world" bit, but other than that.....true talent IMO
Ryan Adams' attitude does get old rather quickly, but his music is some of the best stuff I've heard in a long time.

can't argue with that.
