for a excellent condition (not a mark) Larrivee OM-03 with an LR Baggs iBeam passive + a brand new TKL Elite hard shell case. I bought the guitar on ebay and installed the pickup and upgraded the case myself. I have about $750 of my own money into this and have a friend whose son is interested. I think it's a little more than he wants to spend but do you think this is a fair deal???
I don't think that's too much to ask, perhaps too little... I don't think many people have any idea how much a good guitar is worth. Before I started really guitar shopping, I was shocked at the idea of paying more than $500. (Silly, naive me!) Since then, I've played lots, and looked at lots more. Cheap guitars abound, but that's what they are, what they look like, and how they sound. My first guitar was a waste of good firewood. Nearly impossible to play.
Your friend should go to a guitar shop and play a new $700 guitar. Then play the Larrivee you have. If that doesn't convince him, nothing will.

For a used stock OM-03 it would be too much. With the better case and pickup I think it's pretty reasonable.
just as a reference.....back when the market was still decent, maybe a year and a half ago, I had an OM-05 dead mint with Baggs I-beam active, ebony tuners and OHSC.....I had it on Ebay over a three week period and ended up taking 725 shipped for it......it's really tough out there right now....I have had my DR-38 for sale for two weeks now and haven't even had a nip.....
I just checked the selling price for a new OM-03 via a prominent dealer with moderate pricing......732 w case......used with a passive I-beam.....I'd say maybe 550-600 tops
I can't say what we sell them for new,but the price new does include the original hard case.
