Title: Autumn NGD!! OM-03R maple leaf
Post by: StringPicker6 on October 20, 2026, 06:55:41 PM
Hi All!
This OM-03R beauty arrived a few days ago, and I finally came up for air to post some pics.  It's from the L-01R forest guitar special issue.  I asked for an OM body and added maple binding.  Overall, I'm completely in love with it.  The top wood is so new it looks snow-white and the grain is super tight and gorgeous.  I have always loved the maple leaf inlays on the fretboard and bridge wings, so I wanted to grab this one.  I had no idea that Larrivee would also include the stunning maple leaf headstock inlays, so I am absolutely smitten.  Sounds like heaven as well.

That's beautiful, SP! I love the headstock and maple leaf inlays. Congrats!

That "moon" spruce is pretty dang good, isn't? I love my "moon" 000 :thumb

I'm not even sure that it is moon spruce, I just think it's so new. The grain is incredibly tight, it's almost hard to see. It should be the -01 series specs, so I'm thinking it's just standard Sitka. Whatever it is, the sound is gorgeous.

I happen to have an extra larrivee pick guard that came with my Forum VII, but I'm tempted not to put a pick guard on this OM.  It looks good both with and without one.  First world problems...

That guitar is both unique and a keeper and you should look forward to many years of enjoyment. My suggestion is to leave the pick guard off; you can always put it on later. Plus, why cover up the even grain on that top.

Good point, I can always stick it on later, but it's more hassle peeling it off if I didn't like it. I feel like this OM size is tailor made for my body.

I'm a Larrivee OM enthusiast. I think they're great! Enjoy it.

I also like it without the PG.
