Title: Special larrivee d03
Post by: DaveyO on May 13, 2026, 01:48:37 PM
Just bought a larrivee d03 on Guitar Center website
Kind of a curious find
Label says D03 on the inside
But it is a gloss Rosewood
I believe it's an early early model. The serial number is 01070.
Sounds fantastic
A little used though
Anybody have any thoughts?

I'd call that job well done then!

Can you post some pics, Davey?

It's possible it was intended as a gloss model but got sold as an 03 for whatever reason. I've seen that happen. Also, someone could have glossed it. I had a D03 from that era that I took from satin to gloss. It was #01719 though.

BTW, I decided to peek a the GC website and was blown away at the number of used Larrivees at good prices. A few years ago, you'd be lucky to see a couple that were beat up and overpriced. Now, they have a better used selection than just about anyone. They are really making an effort to get in good used gear.

Yesterday I saw a gorgeous OM-09 that was just traded in at the Wilmington, DE Guitsrcenter. If anyone's in the market for an OM, you might want to consider that one. Not sure it's even up on their website yet?

Some used guitars never make it to their website. Probably either due to laziness or neglect or both, or even shadiness. If I plan on popping into a GC while traveling, I'll look up the current used stock for that store. I often find guitars that have no online presence. Finding such a guitar kinda reminds me of being a kid again in the 90s. A nice surprise.

I finally got a hold of larrivee
And junior himself answered my email!
He says somebody might've glossed it after the fact that it was sold that the three series were always satin
