Title: What’s the RS stand for?
Post by: StringPicker6 on January 29, 2026, 07:31:20 AM
Those Larrivee RS4 guitars are so beautiful. Anyone know what the RS stands for?

I googled it and the R stands for "neck through body" with two Humbuckers and the S stands for "Strat" style body. What did we do before AI? Just make stuff up I suppose.

FWIW; My Baker T Pro has a Tele shaped body, but I'm not sure how they ended up with "Baker" in the name either. I just know it looks cool, sounds great and was a great choice for my first electric guitar purchase after 50+ years of playing acoustic only.

I vaguely recall reading something about the baker name origin, but the details are forgotten to me. I do know they traced the body shape directly from a 50's original fender, possibly even a rare broadcaster?

No one said it (to my knowledge), but I always thought the "Baker" referenced Bakersfield, CA.  Larrivee is now a California company, and the tele shape is a big part of that retro Country scene.  Always made sense in my mind.  But maybe I'm wrong.

Same. I had always assumed is was a nod to Bakersfield.

Regarding the Bakersfield origin, I can't say for sure but ... my 2012 T type Larrivée is a TL-4 but the model transitioned to being called a Bakersfield and it is the direct ancestor to the actual Baker T.
