Title: Larrivee D-24 - SOLD
Post by: EvanRS16 on October 23, 2025, 02:01:37 PM
I jumped at the chance to try out Larrivee's new 24 Series when this D-24 came up on Reverb back in June. I enjoyed my time with this one, but I need to downsize my guitar collection and have decided to put it back up for sale.

The short scale neck is very comfortable and easy to play. Sound-wise, its deep bass response, loud volume, and the headroom of the Adirondack top stood out most to me. The new radial wood rosette and rosewood body/neck binding are really quite beautiful and unique.

The guitar had some sharp fret ends when I received it, which I filed back, dressed, and polished, so they're smooth and comfortable now. I also made slight adjustments to the nut slots and saddle height, with the action currently a hair above 6/64" low E and 4/64" high E at the 12th fret, with 0.005" neck relief. I played Martin strings on it, but I've freshly restrung it with Larrivee-recommended D'Addario XT 12-53's for this sale.

Overall this D-24 is in near-mint condition. There is one tiny mark near the 5th fret side marker in the rosewood binding, and a few other barely visible marks in the neck binding next to the fret ends from filing (see photos linked below). Otherwise it's in like-new condition. The hardshell case is also in like-new condition. The guitar has never left my smoke-free home in my time owning it.

Asking SOLD which includes continental USA shipping or possibly local pickup in the Dallas area.

I have no affiliation here but this is a really nice guitar for sale. The 24 series dread and L bodied guitars have a 14 fret neck with a 24.5" scale while the other bodies have a 12 fret neck. The combination of the radial wood rosette, pyramid bridge and vine inlay are nice touches. My 24 series 00 just celebrated her first anniversary with me this month.

Good luck with your sale.

Thanks! I like to think I anticipated the short scale 24 Series when I started this thread (https://www.larriveeforum.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=61333u548s1lsaemj96fghhrj3&topic=54470.0) back in 2021.

I'd still like to try an L-24, LV-24, or similar custom at some point.

Yes, I really like the binding and rosettes on these. Lucky to have not run into a lefty one in the wild.

Price reduced to $1350 shipped!

I did not include the weight in my original post -- very light for a dreadnought at 4 lbs. 4 oz.

It's been a little slow on the forum this week so I thought I'd chime in. It's hard to believe that I responded to this thread nearly six weeks ago a few days after it was posted but I'm back with a few observations for our friends from the Lone Star State.

1) If I was looking for a memorable Christmas gift for myself or a guitar playing family member and lived in the Dallas area, I'd be checking this one out.

2) Check out the D-24 specs on Larrivees's website to see what I'm talking about and then open the link on Evan's Flickr Album.

3) As the owner of a 00-24 for the past 14 months, the quality of these models is unbelievable. The wood selection, design and vintage appointments, especially the radial wood rosette are both eye catching and unique.

4) While I acknowledge that 12 fret, short scale guitars aren't everyone's cup of tea, I have three of them plus a 12 fret, long scale Forum VI model.

Full Disclosure: Every guitar I have is a keeper and I already have two dreadnoughts and an L body. However, over the past decade I have gravitated toward smaller or slightly smaller body sizes. These guitars have provided a fresh perspective and are easier to play. My second and only good guitar for over 27 years was a dreadnought which I consider a must have for me. I'd be checking this D-24 out if I needed one.

P.S. Larrivee also offers both the L and OM models with a Venetian cutaway in the 24 series. The Larrivee gang thinks of everything, don't they? The cutaway virtually eliminates the problem of playing up the neck past the 12th fret. There are a lot of cool sounds to hear up near the soundhole.

Happy Holidays.

Gotta say, one heck of a deal.

OP I think you're gonna regret letting it go.

Yeah, if I had someone righty who needed a new acoustic, I'd go for that. If it was lefty, I'd buy it at that price without thinking twice.

I've always thought the 12-fret square shoulder dreadnought looked so proportionally correct but this 14-fret short scale has the same look. I wish this was a lefty instrument.
