Title: Christmas Larrivee?
Post by: DaveyO on October 17, 2025, 07:38:42 PM
Kind of a dumb question
Anybody planning to ask for a Larrivee for Christmas?
Or to gift yourself one for Christmas?

Not a dumb question at all. I think it's healthy for people to gift themselves something like this. My first Larrivee was a Christmas gift.
This year, I'll be selling some instruments so, unfortunately no Larrivee for me, unfortunately.

For those awaiting the arrival of a new guitar, remember to allow patience to keep your anticipation and excitement in check.

In 2005, I was awaiting the arrival of my custom all mahogany LV-03 12 string ordered in mid November that was delivered around Valentine's Day in 2006. In 2015, my custom 000 12 fret Martin ordered in July of that year arrived on 12/15/15. The Forum VI I ordered in mid-June 2021 in the middle of the pandemic with a projected completion date of 6 months arrived in early 2022. In May 2024, I ordered my 00-24 with a mahogany top in place of the standard Adirondack and it was delivered to my house on 10/3/24. In late June 2024, John Jr. even arranged for me to visit the shop in Oxnard with Matt to see the progress of my guitar being built. I even got to hold the unfinished top, back and sides plus samples of the braces in my hands.

Upon arrival and based on the advice I received from Larrivee, I played my new guitar for six weeks before changing the strings and tweaking the setup. My guitars also stay in their cases in a humidified room when they are not being played. YMMV.

I have an OMV-5 that should be finished right around Christmas (I hope).

One additional option is the used market place.  Some of the big box stores (you know their names...) have LOTS of Larrivee guitars in their used inventory online.  I wouldn't have too many concerns buying a used Larrivee, since they are built so well and durably.
