Last night, my son and I drove to Cleveland to see the BEATrio (Bela Fleck on banjo; Edmar Castaneda, harp and Antonio Sanchez, drums). This was a great experience.
From bluegrass to classical to jazz and everything in between, it's easy to see why Bela Fleck has earned 19 Grammy awards. For those who are interested, Bela Fleck is touring until December 20th. This was my second time seeing him perform and well worth it. There is also a film "Throw down your heart" where Bela Fleck travels to Africa to learn the origins of the banjo.
How cool! I'm a big fan of Abagail Washburn, his wife. Her music actually inspired me to buy a banjo. And, through her videos I learned about Bela.
I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones several times in the nineties. He was fantastic then, and I'm sure he still is.
