So I ordered a custom OM5 with a cedar top, short scale and cut away about a month ago.  It all started innocently enough with an e-mail to Larrivee which led to a call from JR and it quickly took on a life of its own. Lead time I'm told is 4- 6 months (pretty good actually).  So yeah, the waiting is the hardest part!

Yes, I've always loved the Mahogany/cedar combination but somehow just never ran into one at the right time.  everyone is crazy for Adi lately so it seems cedar has been a bit forgotten on the other side of the spectrum. didn't realize Larrivee would do custom options so it was a real surprise/treat for me.

It's definitely coming back in fashion. I saw a big adi-phase in the acoustic market, but I think a lot of people are realizing that adi dreads aren't necessarily the end-all, so smaller guitars and non-spruce tops are gaining popularity in a big way.

When I was a kid I had a hamster, and we used cedar chips for bedding. Now, whenever I smell a cedar guitar, I think "hamster".  :roll
