I've been contemplating buying one for a while, but there were only 45 made...
My questions (if you have played one or know about them) are the following:
- Was there anything different or special made with this run? (e.g., is the bracing scalloped or should I expect the guitar to be more resonant, like the -50-60 series?)
- Silver oak's characteristics online are "warm, punch, clear/balanced". If you have experience with silver oak, how would you describe it? (I've played an OM silver oak and it was indeed punchy, closer to mahogany than rosewood, maybe even closer to walnut)
Is it worth considering a custom order (and say, making it a 00V- or an OMV-) if LV is too big?
Can't help you on your post, except, to say the *current* Forum VII orders are being taken, but not for much longer.
The 45th Anniversary LV-10s are fantastic guitars. Jean selected his best tops and best silver oak b/s for that model and the sound certainly proves it. He also said at one point that those combos produced some of his best sounding guitars. I'll second that wholeheartedly.
BTW Reverb has one for sale and another lv-10 close in specs.
You're correct about the bank wood. A more dry mahogany/maple type of sound. Larrivee does woods like this really well as it plays to the clarity of the Larrivee sound.
They do a million customs and special runs so don't limit yourself to this one run.
