Title: DR RARE strings
Post by: Danny on January 11, 2025, 01:35:35 PM
I recently put a set of 12-54 DR RARE strings on my old D-02.

Wow! What a difference they made. Full, rich tone above my D'Addario strings.

Just a little heads up.

I've had good success with DR sunbeams, as well. But they have a round core, not a hex shape, so I always try to put a little kink in the wound strings to keep the core from slipping. If you rip open the DR string box, it explains it inside.

DR makes fantastic strings. Every set I've tried has been favorable to the "big brands" and they last must longer than most non-coated strings. They are the only strings I use on my electrics because, even when they get heavily worn, they still sound great. I can leave them on electrics lor literal years.

I love the Sunbeams on my acoustics, the round core is a great feel under my fingers. They do seem to last longer, not ever too bright but hard to kill. I have grabbed a few Dragonskin Plus packs for electric when GC was blowing them out at $5 a set. They come with extra plain strings. A great deal and I like them a lot. Sound like a coated version of my usual DR Pure Blues.
