I decided to give my 00-40R a headstock polish and I'm really happy with the results. This is the third time I've done this, and every time the slight beautiful streaks of the ebony come out and the inlaid logo shines brightly. It's a shame to hide such nice ebony under the satin finish. Here are before and after pics.
Wow, very classy! :nice guitar:
Looks great! :thumb
Looks better that way, thinking of getting my polishing clothes out now..
Since I've been seeing this on the forum I've thought about doing this to my D03BW. I've had it since 2003 and am very used to the way it looks: but wow, this shine is very classy! My concern is that if I polish up the headstock, there would be no going back if I regretted it. Probably a dumb question, but is there a way to put it back to satin once polished up?
I suppose you could take some super fine grit sandpaper to rough it up again? I will say this: while holding and playing the guitar, I never really see my headstock, so I've never had any regrets. It's not something that's in your face every time, in other words.
