I noticed that the Denver Folklore Center has a OO-05 with a Cedar top (https://www.denverfolklore.com/shop/Instruments/Guitar/Used-and-Vintage-Guitars/p/Larrive-00-05-1996-x62584081.htm) from 1996. They don't come up for sale that often. If you primarily play with you fingers it is worth a look,
Definitely not against the rules. And you're right; we don't see many cedar top Larrivees. My understanding is cedar is tougher to build with, tops can crack even before the instrument is finished. I think that is why Jean stopped using it.
That is a fine looking and unique guitar! Only 4 blocks from me! But I don't need to spend for it. Sad. I hope someone loves it!
