I've been looking for an OM-03 all mahogany guitar and the research I had done indicated that these guitars with a satin finish were built in Vancouver around about 2012-13-14, as part of the final builds before Vancouver was closed.
As I understood it, production in California was with a gloss finish. So, there is currently one of these OM-03's for sale on AGF with a satin finish but the label is a California build.
I can't imagine that they would have stuck a California label on one built in Vancouver so was my previous research wrong in that Larrivee did build satin finish OM-03's in California?
Thanks for any info you experts can provide.
In early 2013 Larrivee closed its Vancouver site and continued to make 03 models at their US site. I think its very likely that guitars partially finished at the transition could have received USA labels
I've always understood the 03 series were all satin, 05 & up are gloss.

Pretty much.
Comparison chart here (scroll down)... https://www.larrivee.com/series
I think there were/are -04's that are gloss top and satin sides, backs and necks.

So I gather that if the series is an 03, it is a satin finish and that would be the case from years ago to now? And that applies to any model, OM or OOO or D or whatever. Correct?
I can see that there could have been some unfinished Vancouver builds that were finished in California.
I'm not too sure what you mean by "these guitars". It sounds like you mean there was only a specific batch. Larrivee is known for doing many different special production runs so it's unlikely an all hog OM03 is exclusive to a single Canadian run. As was said, there was a time when 03/satin models were made in Canada, higher end models in the US. After moving completely to the US, all satin/03 models were made in the US and I'm sure there's been all mahogany models made in satin in the US, probably at various times. The build variety from Larrivee is truly impressive and I love looking at classifieds just to see all the special wood combinations they've used.

Yes, except custom builds or special runs which could be any of the stock models with custom features: scale length, trims (inlays, bindings, rosette, headstock overlays, etc), top woods, back and sides, etc.

All three of my Larrivees have a satin finish including my 2004 Special Edition, flamed maple parlor, 2005 custom 12 string LV03 (both made in Vancouver B.C. Canada) and my FORUM VI, made in Oxnard.
As Ed stated, Larrivee does an exceptional job with the overall design, Satin finish, wood selection and build quality which is why I am considering another custom build with Satin finish, 00 12 fret with mahogany top, back and sides.
Thanks Guys. I was under the impression that these all mahogany OM's were all built in Van so was surprised when I saw the California built one for sale. I guess they just finished off ones they had started in Vancouver.
I have an OM -2 (same as OM-3, with even less frills) from 2014 that was started in Vancouver and finished in Oxnard. They will tell you a little about the guitar if you send them the serial number.
