Thanks and sorry we didn't return the favor wishing our friends to the North a Happy belated Canada Day. Guess I'll go listen to Canadian Railroad Trilogy and then pull out my 12 string.

P.S. How is that D35 treating you? You may recall, I have a 1976 model with shade top purchased new in May 1977.

We're doing well. Thanks. You've had yours a lot longer than I have. I bought myself a 60th birthday present. Do you have the blue "steal me" case?  :laughin:   :cheers

Happy Independence Day America and my American friends.
Thanks Tom.  At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787,  Benjamin Franklin was queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation. In the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland's delegates to the Convention,  a lady asked Dr. Franklin "Well Doctor what have we got, a republic or a monarchy."  Franklin replied, "A republic . . . if you can keep it."

This might interest you. The French Revolution and The Age of Reason. Good read.

Happy Fourth, everyone.  I believe Franklin, et al, would be amazed that we are still going, given their knowledge of history and human nature/human folly.  Cheers to old Ben and to the rest of the Founders.   :cheers

For non-history buffs: It took 17 days for Jefferson to draft the Declaration of Independence and two days of changes by the Continental Congress including, Jefferson, John Adams and Ben Franklin before it was read on July 4, 1776. Think about that: 17 days with a dirty feather, an inkwell, no auto correct or white out written longhand on parchment paper that was about two grades better than tree bark.

I do in fact have the Blue "steal me" Case that looks like a piece of Samsonite luggage along with a thank you letter from Frank Martin, probably signed by his secretary. I asked my son to come over with his camera to get some high quality photos of my guitars.

Those guys were special. A different breed. I'd love to see photos. I keep thinking I should replace the case, it's battered but not broken and these days, so damn ugly, it's probably a turn off to potential thieves.  :laughin:

I'm a day late, but it's been a busy weekend (a wedding to officiate on Saturday, then a worship service on Sunday)...

...so Happy (belated) 4th of July!!!

It's also a special day to me for another reason - it was my dad's birthday - and he would have been 80 this year. He's been gone way too long, but will never be forgotten. He was a 23 year USAF veteran, which means I grew up as a "military brat" - and I wouldn't change that for anything!

Sounds like he left way too young. My condolences.
