Post by: _-Pat-_ on April 18, 2021, 02:35:42 PM

Tried a takamine nex with nuts 48mm grand Auditorium but too large
Even I'm 1m90 with big hands, i prefer the academy's size, grand concert
Wich is for you the Larrivée size like a Taylor 312
Thank you for your help

Bonjour, Pat.
Bienvenue dans notre sympathique petit groupe!
Sorry Pat. I don't speak French.
The closest match to the Taylor x12 dimensions is the Larrivee OM body shape & size.
I couldn't find the exact measurements for the Taylor.
Compare these Larrivee OM numbers to your Taylor 312e:
Measurements
(rapidtable conversion chart)
Scale Length: 25.5"
Upper Bout: 11.75"
Waist: 9.5"
Lower Bout: 15.25"
Body Depth: 4.25"
Nut Width: 1-3/4"
Saddle Spacing: 2-1/4"

Thanks Queequeg
Larrivee OM-03R Orchestra Rosewood seems good for my money
Always afraid of the 44,3mm... The Taylor academy is 42,9mm really too small
I don't imagine how 44,3mm can be very more confortable
Very hard to find Larrivée guitars to try in France

I understand.
Here's the thing-
44,45mm... that's the usual and ordinary nut width for fingerstyle guitars at least here in the US of A.
The 42,9mm is what most electric guitars and dreadnaughts are spec'd at.
Believe me; there's a difference. I need that slightly larger width and I no longer own any guitars with the narrower width, except for just one electric guitar that never seems to get out of the case any more.
But even if Larrivees are scarce in France, you shouldn't have any trouble finding lots of 44,3mm to try out and compare to the  42,9mm.
See for yourself.
By the way, Larrivee did make a few 1.875 (47.625). The 000-50 (or 60) and SD-50 (or 60). Newer ones are built at 44,45mm.
But if you could find an older one.
(That 000 is a favorite of mine.)
The 000 is pretty close in size to the OM.

I'll add that comparing my Taylor 322 and my various Larrivee OOs, while they both measure 1 3/4" at the nut, Larrivee spaces their nut slots a full 1mm wider than the Taylor. The E to E distance on the Taylor is 38mm and on the Larrivee it's 39mm.

I have fingers long enough to palm a basketball and I have no trouble with a Larrivee 1 3/4" neck.

Best of luck with your search!
