What a gorgeous instrument, and in great condition. My L-26 built in 1978 has many dings and worn finish areas from years of gigging.
Wow, that is a nice early model! Oh and welcome to the forum....
:welcome: :donut :coffee :donut2
Imagine the hands that went into building this... Everything about this guitar is incredible :thumbsup

Yes indeed! I see the name Jean is etched in the side.

With a heart, must be a story there. The Rosewood looks interesting. Special EIR or Brazilian?
That's a great one, as has been said. The top has such nice silking and the amber color it has evolved to is just so elegant and classical looking. The rosewood binding and classic rosette finish it off beautifully. I would love to hear it.
:nice guitar:
Love the old ones. My 77 Classical is here to stay.
That is just beautiful. Really elegant in its simplicity. See the shadow on the upper bout? Is that uneven staining or just the lighting? If a guitar can look heavy, this one does. No rationale behind that, it just...looks heavy. Pretty. And no microdots.
Sweet. Welcome to the old Larrivee club. There is a club, ain't there? :laughin:

Consider it appreciated - very much! :nice guitar:

So... are you the original owner, or is this a recent purchase? I'm still lovin' my recently acquired (and lefty-ized) '79 L-19!

Mine does feel heavy - rosewood guitars sometimes do. And it has that older, larger box Larrivee body - but I think it all contributes to the incredible, rich tone these have!

That is the nitro finish doing it's melting thing. Take a look at the photo with "Jean" and heart etched. You can see this happening here then making it's way to the top. It usually happens on the lower bout from forearm contact. Perhaps the original owner used the upper bout to rest his/her right arm when not playing?

So informative to get this kind of insight. Thanks.
I love that the Larrivees contribute to this forum!
I've seen this guitar for sale on reverb today.

Someone will likely pay that price. I hope mine will all be worth that much when they get old...

But we get much older... and we won't be here anyway.
I wonder if I'll be remembered as a guitar hoarder :?

You are not a guitar hoarder. Why would you be remembered as one?
If you feel guilty, I can babysit. You know that.

I thought of that when I wrote it... I hope to be remembered as a guitar lover and not a hoarder. My goal is to find wonderful homes for them all...

I do give guitars to family. But I've decided to find veterans that may like one as well. But I want to hand it to them, not an organization that may be milking profits from our deserving men and women, who defended our freedom.

Let me know when you find that avenue... I would like to give some to talented young aspiring musicians, but I have the same issues with them being minors and some adults taking advantage of the situation, or even worse taking it away from them...
This could be an opportunity for us to start our own group. People our age have a heart to give, but not to be taken advantage of.

I've donated two (lefty) guitars (but not Larrivees, I confess) to the organization "Guitars for Vets." It's a national organization with local chapters. I'll admit, I haven't looked into it deeply, but it is a way to give back to our veterans and receive a tax deduction for a charitable donation.
