Title: New Larrivee
Post by: BabeRuthsLegs on July 30, 2015, 08:24:55 PM
My new om-03r JCL came last Friday. First, I was surprised by the weight. My other guitar is a GS-Mini which of course is light-weight but I didn't remember the guitars I had picked up in local stores to be nearly as heavy as this one. Then I gave it the once-over and let me tell you it is a beauty. Beautiful spruce top and RW back/sides. I couldn't wait to play it. I strummed a few chords last Friday and Saturday and I was disappointed that it wasn't louder. I also wasn't used to the scale and the neck and thought I"ll send it back Monday and replace it with something else, maybe something a little smaller. Well, I didn't send it back and I'm glad I didn't. I got more comfortable with the size but kept thinking it sure is quiet. Yesterday I changed the strings. What a difference! I put some Martin SP 13s on it and that has made the all the difference. It'll never boom but it suits me fine now. I think it fits me pretty well, too. I'm now a happy Larrivee owner.

It might be my imagination but I think it sounds better this evening than it did this morning. I really do love the sound. I couldn't be happier with it.

Congrats!  Regarding weight, rosewood could come into play there.  If it has electronics, that will factor in too.
