Title: At Seventeen.....
Post by: fitness1 on April 18, 2015, 02:26:50 PM
Actually I was only 13 when it came out 40 years ago....Janis is certainly a talented lady!

First take this morning - I'd been working on it for a couple of days.

Hope you enjoy it....remember to slide the volume selector up before playing!

I wish I had your vocal range, no way I could sing in that key.  Nice reverb too.  What guitar were you playing?  I guess we all record a bit?  George

That's the Charis - standard tuning, no capo.  I dabbled with playing it on the Cervantes and fingerstyle, but it just had a better feel lightly strummed to me.

Great cover! You have that Don McLean vocal thing going there. Have you tried covering American Pie or Starry night? I recently did an instrumental of this song (At seventeen). I'll try to record it and share once I get around to it. Great job, keep it up!

You have a beautiful, rich tenor. I wish I had your range. Thanks for sharing.  :thumbsup

And, I think performing American Pie over the years cost me probably 5 years off my life - that song is a marathon!! :roll

Thanks Bob - that guitar isn't a Somogyi, is it??? :roll

Navychief - very simple - Tascam DP-01FX 8 track and two Blue Encore 300 mics.   Actually I think Vincent was recorded with a Blue Encore 200 on the vocals and a Behringer C2 on the guitar (which was my old Cordoba C9)

Simple is good! That's a good set up. Those 300's are pretty versatile condensers. Keep it up! :+1:
