Title: New Mel Gibson Movie - It's Worth A Look!
Post by: PastorChuck on February 02, 2004, 10:20:57 PM
First, as a newcomer to Larrivee Guitars and to this forum, I want to thank UncleRob, zselby, pastormike and others for all the help they have given me. With their help and guidance, I think I have found my "dream" guitar. I am purchasing a C-10.

I recently had an incredible opportunity to go to California to see a pre-screening of Mel Gibson's new movie, "The Passion Of The Christ". After the "rough cut", Mel Gibson appeared live for a Q & A session regarding the film. I was moved by his commitment to this project, his personal humility and his "passion" for The Passion.

I am not one to try and force my beliefs on people and I would certainly not do that in this forum. I just want to encourage everyone to see this movie. Artistically, the movie is top notch. It is a visually moving portrait of Christ's last 12 hours on earth. To say I enjoyed the film would not be accurate. I was moved - powerfully - by what I saw. This movie has to be experienced. If you want to see the trailer or get more information about the film, check out the Passion website:

http://www.thepassionofthechrist.com (http://www.thepassionofthechrist.com)

Regardless of anyone's particular beliefs, or what anyone thinks about Mel Gibson the actor, The Passion Of The Christ is worth a look.

I hope by posting this message, that I will in no way, offend anyone. That is not my intention.

Well I for one can hardly wait to see the film.  What a tool to open conversation about J.C. and how he differs from the alternatives...  I am glad that Mel Gibson has weathered the storm and made the movie.  No one promised the Christian an easy life without criticism or persecution...

Personal views, mind you: Last night I watched Jesus Christ Superstar....first time, as I just couldn't get into it when I was younger.

Wanted to share: I think it was a fine movie....inspires alot of emotion!!

I'm gonna see Mel's movie at first opportunity. Thanks for the tip.

Went to see the movie last night...  All movies were sold out even the 10:30 movie...  I got into the movie at 10:30 pm.  The movie was an incredible experience.  Mel Gibson scored a bullseye in my opinion.  His goal was to show what Jesus Christ experienced in his last hours (the suffering, humiliation, rejection, but mostly love and forgiveness).

Don't mind the critics...  They are the ones that don't understand the movie (either they aren't true Christians or don't understand the message).  In my opinion they are looking at the movie for the entertainment factor.  If I were watching the movie for entertainment, I too would say that the movie was brutal and disturbing.  I wasn't there for entertainment, I was there for a deeper understanding what Jesus Christ had to endure for me.  I was deeply moved at the sacrifice he made for me and I won't soon forget it...

Our small group is going after church tomorrow. It seems to have shaken up our little town--not a bad thing. We saw a friend (pastor) & his wife out to dinner last night, and they said it was incredible. He said it put sin and redemption in a whole new light. I think we tend to spiritualize the cross, robbing it of its true impact (cross earrings and the like) as the instrument of torture and death that it is. Christ certainly wasn't given an easy death, and that he suffered so horribly for love of us...

:o  I saw it yesterday and was blown away to say the least. Very powerful movie.  If you can make it through without losing it....I'd want to check your pulse.  I am a Christian, so my reaction is going to be emotional to say the very least.  If you're not a Christian, I'm not real sure how it would make one feel.  A must see IMO.

Maybe it's the Mom in me, but when Mary had the flashback to a toddler's fall, and picking him up to comfort him, I completely lost it. I saw the rest of the movie through a haze of tears.

that's the EXACT moment that I really lost it myself.  I've got a little boy the same age as the little boy in the flashback scene.....and I nearly went to the floor on that one.  And the part where Mother Mary asked to die with him when He's on the cross.  I'm still shaken up from it......
