This month yet another OO is on the home page of the forum. I haven't actually done a tally but that's a lot of OO's for GOTM.
Plus now we learn from Matthew that the new 40 series will include OO's. Notable Guitars has started receiving them and it has definitely caught my attention like no other 40 series offering.
Gotta like these little wonders.

My 00-70 is the only Larrivee I have left...tried lots of 'em over the years but that's the one that stayed.
Just about perfect size for me.
:+1:.... for OO's
What's not to love???? My wildwood OO-03 IS/RW.... outstanding guitar....
Wish I could have a OO in every tonewood both top & B&S... what a dream... :bgrin: BobW... :guitar
The OO-40 caught my attention as well. Great price for a lot of guitar. Would love to get my paws on one.

Clearly a conspiracy to try to tempt me into buying another Larrivee. A OO-40R might be just the ticket. Matt is sneaky that way.
The 00 size, shape, dimensions from Larrivee is just a very very classy, and appealing shoe to the eye for starters.
It's a sheer beauty to play as well, as far as comfort. For my own preference, the 25.5 scale is an added bonus, and certainly not lacking in bass response.

Oh I hear ya! Good thing I'm on a tight budget or I might fall to to temptation. :guitar

I'll testify to that.
I ordered my OO-40R from Jason today. It's being shipped from Montana to Texas starting today.
Mine is not going anywhere I can tell you that. If anything, it may get a brother! :laughin:
My OO-05 is in the shop, 12th fret hump at the join. That problem has been there for years. I'm finally taking care of it. Dan, let us know how the -40 sounds. I'd love to try one out.

Sorry to hear about the neck problem on your OO. I will start a thread on the OO-40R. I've had three other
Larrivee OO's, so I believe the comparison should be something to help others contemplating one for themselves. At the least it will be more information than I had.

I'll be looking for the review as I'm interested in the spruce/hog (maybe OM/000) version but would need to sell one of my other guitars to make room (and that's a tough choice for me).
Going to be a :nice guitar:
When it arrives lets schedule that lunch in Round Top. I'll bring my limited edition D-03 with Italian Spruce top.

That sounds good to me Norm. Our anniversary is coming up soon, so the wife and I will be going to the hill Country. Then I need to go to the Ozarks for a week. But after that I'm sure we can hook up. Our oldest daughter and her husband live pretty close to you so we come that way more often now.
I'd like you to see and hear my 14 year old D-02 as well. I'm very impressed with its tone and volume.
You got it. Keep me informed, here, messaging, or email. Gee, phone calls work too.
I look forward to seeing you again, Danny.

When I started this thread my interest was aroused even more in the 40 series with the possibility of the OO series being included. Even though my shoulder has healed enough to play dreads again I know at my age it can't last. So having a OO available for most of my playing is a big benefit. Plus Jason at Notable had the OO-40 made in Rosewood and I'm mahogany heavy at this time.
So it went from "interest" to "ordering" very quickly. A tax bill that was fairly substantial has been paid, so the way was available financially as well. The price Jason offers us forumites is very reasonable as well.
Anyway, so here I am tracking the Fed ex shipment coming from Montana. It arrived in Colorado last night and left at 3am. It may already be in north Texas and soon it'll be in central Texas. It's due to arrive Tuesday. I can't help feeling like a child waiting for his birthday to come.
I really didn't think I'd buy another new Larrivee this year. But as my wife responded when I spoke with her before placing the order, it's really no surprise at all.
Mine is due to arrive on Monday. I'm with you on the birthday-waiting-child thing.
I am really curious if the new bracing offers a substantial difference.

We want to see pics AND some sound clips.... AND some more sound clips :bgrin: Looking forward to complete reviews, too!!!!!! :+1:

Danny, it seems as though the 40 series Legacy guitars have aroused interest in those of us who were previously totally satisfied with our lineup. I am very happy with my D-40 and I'm sure you will be very pleased with your new 00. Wish I lived closer so I could meet you and Norm for lunch !

I think you have it right. And it would be a real treat to have you join Norm and I.
I know the new bracing has to make quite a difference on the larger guitars. I'm really curious to see the affect on a small OO.

All reports are that the difference is very subtle. The main X-brace and top brace are identical to the standard Larrivee bracing. The lower cross brace is replaced by a pair of Martin style tone bars.
Also the braces are scalloped and lighter allowing the top to respond more freely.

Tuffy,
What's a little road trip between friends? I'd love to meet you, and you'd love the food AND PIES at Royer's Cafe in Round Top, Texas. Does Pat's motorcycle have a sidecar?

Only the tone bars are scalloped. The main braces (which provide most of the stiffness) are not scalloped. They are the same parabolic design as every other Larrivee.
It's a very subtle change. It allows a bit more vibration of the lower bout, but most of the vibratory modes are the same.
That being said, it does bring out slightly more bass, and I could really dig a OO-40R as long as I could rip off the pickguard before it caused a tan-line. (have to sell a 12-sting or two first though)

I will be removing the pick guard for sure. I wasn't aware of the main bracing not being scalloped as well.

A road trip is probably not in the cards at this time. I will be having back surgery soon that will keep me housebound for a few months. But I'll be retiring when I hit 65 in January and I plan to do some traveling as soon as I am able to drive again. I'd like to meet some of my Larrivee Forum Friends across the country !

We have been living and working as missionaries in Oaxaca, Mx... using a Texas address for all mailing/shipping BUT we are returning to NC in mid-Oct... I'm 67... having a lot of back issues (again)... so, Lord willing, hope to get a lot of grandkid and guitar time in for a few years....
My C-05e & LV-09 WL are waiting for me at my son's place, along with a few others...
God is good :bgrin: BobW... :guitar
I'm gassing for an OO 40 series and curious to hear from those who have had theirs for awhile now. Impressions? Is it a long term keeper for you? Rosewood vs Hog back and sides?
