Now I'm new to Larrivees (haven't actually seen one in person), but I'm looking to pick one up from a guy online this weekend. I just want to make sure its real since it will be the most expensive guitar I have purchased to date. I'm also fairly inexperienced when it comes to acoustic guitars. Is there anything I should look at in terms of condition/authenticity? I was never really into acoustics before but that's because the one i had wasn't really great. I'm hoping this one will be the catalyst I need to take my playing to another level!

PLAY IT. If you like it, buy it. We can't give you the subjective experience you need regarding acoustic guitars. This should be a safe way to start. If you are really that fearful of making a mistake buy a new one from a reputable dealer who has a return policy.
How much are you paying for this LV-03e? (maybe a LV-03Re)
Guitar from te photos looks in good condition, but photos can be deceptive. The guitar is real looks like Larrivee Model LV-03E.
Suggest you take someone you trust to help you evaluate the structure/wear.

hmmmm, an interesting question, I mean it looks legit to me, like others have mentioned.
The part that interests me is, if it WAS a fake, i would buy it anyway, because it's that good of a fake.
If the Larrivee guitar building family have come so far that others are producing that level of "fake", that; in, and of itself is a very interesting thing.

Oh OK, I went in the direction that it was on line but he was picking up in person on the weekend. ( because of weekend and short time turn around) made me think local on-line.
I don't think anyone is making fake Larrivee's.

does look like rosewood grain. How much is it?
Rosewood, definitely. Looks like a nice guitar. Of course it is a Larrivee.
If you don't buy it, others here might jump on it.

Looks like a real Larrivee LV-03Re to me. Spruce / Rosewood. Plus it's got a herrignbone rosette which is non-standard on a 03 level so it's a bit of a custom version I think. This should be an excellent guitar if there are no hidden defects that don't show in the pictures.

keep checking the for sale postings. another will turn up. I just bought my first Larrivée from a posting here. If you can afford to buy new, find a dealer and try several models to get an idea of what you prefer (size, woods, etc). be patient, the right guitar will come along.
Funny story, 2 weeks later the guy who beat me to it is trying to flip the guitar on kijiji for $800 more than the previous sellers price. He's being really douchey about it too. And it's not just me being a sore loser, I've seen his responses to other people on forums where he's tried to offload merchandise. He's basically an all around jerk!
Boy I hate it when bad people get nice things. :rolleye:
