Did Larrivee ever use ink serial numbers?  Just picked up what appears to be a D-03 (will try to get a pic up soon).  It's satin with a mahogany back and sides looks like a cedar top.  The label only is Larrivee Canada and the heal block markings are only a 00xxxx serial number in ink.

My O-01 Parlor (1999) has the serial number stamped in ink on the neck bock.  The pasted label looks like this:

My D-03R-12 (May 1998) is also stamped in ink on the neck block, label matches the above, and is a 4 digit serial number with two leading zeroes.

In general, Vancouvers serial numbers are hard stamped in using steel number stamps. The digits are lined up and taped with a hammer leaving an indentation. We then use a pencil over the stamp to increase visibility. There was a time however (Somewhere around 2000-2002) where we used a hand stamp that advanced the number by one each time we stamped. These were just simply black ink stamped on the headblock. The guitars made in Oxnard have a lasered headblock that has the model, serial number, and the JCL logo etched into it. It's one of the ways you can tell guitars from the two different shops apart.

Matthew sounds great.  I did receive a note from Larrivee stating that it was a D-03 Mahogany with a Spruce top (pretty dark for spruce) made on 10/29/1998.
