How about the backsides? Nice guitars indeed. What size is the 00 on the upper and lower bout? (and waist) Just curious, I think the Larrivee 00 is smaller in all three dimensions.

Wow, beautiful Fongie - thanx 4 sharing!
I can't find the OM-18V in the Martin Lineup - is it a custom model?
Can you tell us more about it - Scale length, nut width etc.

Here is a nice blues number on the OM-18V - Sammisysta's YouTube Channel

Wow - great family pic!!! I love the vintage series. Do you prefer one over the other or does it just depend upon what mood you're in?

I bet they sound and play as good as they look.  I like the surfboard too.  Thanks for the pics - especially since it snowed here yesterday.

Regarding my preference, I don't really have a favourite. I purchased these three because they all serve a purpose in my stable. To me, I love Rosewood for strumming and Mahogany for lead. Both woods are nice for fingerpicking.

What I also love about these guys, the more you dig in, the better sounding they are.

Although I prefer mahogany in general,  Rosewood is a must IMO to have in the stable. I sold my HD-28 recently and purchased the OM-28V. What I lost in volume, bass and that vintage Martin tone this little guy more then madeup for it. Very well balanced guitar.

The John Meyer OMJM-28 specs is base from the OM-28V. It is more or less the same guitar except for a few changes. Infact the OM-28V is Johns favourite OM and was used in most his gigs before the OMJM-28 was introduced.

So, I really love them all.

Cheers WilE, yeah the surfboard is a single fin vintage from my collection, Australian built.

Yes, the guitars sure sound nice, very pleased.

Each guitar does have a different purpose, that's for sure. Sounds like you have most of the bases covered. Do you have any Taylors in the "stable"?

Not to get too far off topic but, since the surfboard is there, etc., how's the fishing?

I'm gearing up for the winter months, best fishing months. I will mainly concentrate on squid this time, so much fun with light gear.

How about you, where are you, what sort of fishin do you do?

Zohn will be tuning in, he loves fishing.

It's trout for me here in California but our season doesn't open until the end of next month.  I do have a trip planned for British Colombia and Alaska this summer though.

Nice Will,

I'm in the tropics so we don't have trouts. Although, the colder states here in Australia, like Tasmania, do have them. NZ, on the other hand, is trout country, and lots of it too.

Zohn and I are more alike, our fish are very similar. Although, I don't do the heavy fishing anymore due to a few double hernia operation, too much strain. Lighter tackle is me these days.

I also like spear fishing, something I was brought up doing since a little boy. Good fun.

Fishing in BC - oh man that is just a dream  - and there's a guitar factory too...
We have trout here too, only stocked though with the water temps too high for them too breed naturally in rivers.

Yeah fishing is good man, fishing is good  :whistling:

I know this is not the right place to post this but, did I mentioned that I also collect vintage rods and reels?

Well, yesterday I inherited some cane/bamboo rods and wooden Australian reel called and 'Alvey' reel from the 60's. So excited. Very collectable.

Anyway, these are no good for fishing anymore but, they sure are nice talking points. Anyone collect these things?

I don't collect them exactly, but I'm very fond of my old Penn 980 Power mag and Ambassadeur 8000c. I don't use them anymore though because modern (faster) reels are just better suited for rock and surf fishing.

Split cane rods: yeah that is another lost art like bow making - they are heavy and don't compare to modern Graphite and Boron rods, but the hand-made aspect is still so special about them.
Alvey - yep, I fished with one of them Ausie reels as well - very well made reels. I prefer the compactness of the modern baitcast reels that Diawa and Shimano offer though.

Hey Zohn,

I love the Ambassadeur and Penns, Abu is just wonderful, aren't they? Love the Abu rods too, I have a few myself, can't beat the cork butt and handle, huh?

Yeah the Alvey I received is wooden, just beautiful.
