And no, that does not stand for Old Mike is over 50. It's my new Larrivee OM-50. I actually received it the week after Christmas but I was never home to take pictures at the same time the sun was shining (one of the benefits of living in Southeast Michigan).
First, let me thank "gtrplayer" for making the guitar available and for taking immaculate care of it. The guitar was made in 2005 and it looks like it left the factory yesterday. And a huge THANK YOU to "Queequeg" for allowing me to sit down and play his various Larrivee's. It allowed me the opportunity to hear and feel the different models, giving me an idea of which ones were best suited for me. Given that I am over 50, I think the OM was a good choice for "old Mike".
The guitar itself is stunning. The spruce top has a wonderful, rich grain with beautiful abalone inlay and herringbone trim, rich mahogany back and sides with a maple trim that accents the whole thing perfect. As for the sound, I couldn't be happier. It is even across the entire compass of the guitar. Bass is solid while the mids and highs ring clear. I am having a blast playing it.
The workmanship is everything you would expect a Larrivee to be ... impeccable! I am amazed at what one gets for the price when they buy a Larrivee. With all due respect to the Martin and Taylor guitars (both wonderful instruments in their own right) but I cannot see buying either of them over a Larrivee when you consider the price and quality. In my own words, Larrivee is twice as nice at half the price.
Anyway, I finally took some pictures when I noticed the sun shining the other morning. However, the pictures just don't do this guitar justice, so I will not include them. Besides, the system won't allow me to add them. So instead, I offer you this....
:donut
Imagine, if you will, the most beautiful, scrumptious, best tasting (sounding), finest made donut you've ever seen and you have my OM-50. Grab yourself a :coffee and enjoy!

Nice account of your OM-50. The system should allow you to attach pics.
Did you see THIS (http://www.larriveeforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=17645.0) :? :?
Congrats Tube Mike. As a former 50 series owner I know how easy it is to fall for one of those.
Congrats! :gotpics:

Hey Joyce: I did see that but I was on my iPad and it would not let me even access that area. I'm adding a flickr page. Thanks.

Thanks, Denis. I really enjoy your Youtube posts and your playing. I think I have all of your stuff from CD Baby and the like. Keep doing what you're doing!
Here is a link to Flickr. Hopefully that works.

Thanks Mr_LV19e. I don't know how you did it by I appreciate your putting the pictures up for me.

I copied them from flikr to my computer, uploaded them to my photobucket account and copied the img code to my post. I could have linked them directly from flickr but only in a small format. I find photobucket is very easy to work with when posting pic's to forums.
Your very welcome. Again :nice guitar:
Very cool!
Photos may not do the thing justice, but it looks cool all the same.
:nice guitar:
I like the picture on the wall,it has a mosaic look. How is that done?
