Hello all,
It has been a while since I posted anything. I seem to be having problems with my pickup eating up batteries. I have a Fishman Matrix Infinity installed in my OM-05MT. I had it installed just after I bought the guitar from a fellow forum member. I dont get to plug it in much since I moved because I am not playing live much but I have noticed that my battery is dead when I go to plug in my guitar and I rarely have dead batteries. Soon after I had the pickup installed I went to plug my guitar in to play one night and could not get sound. I finally figured out it was a dead battery. I thought that was weird but I just chalked it up to a bad battery. It was a cheap one my luthier put in anyway. I changed it and I just tried to plug in my guitar and got the same result. I have probably played it plugged in 2-3 times since I changed the battery. It has been a couple months since I played it plugged up but the battery should stay up if the guitar isn't plugged it. All my others do anyway.
I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion of why this may be happening. Could it be that when my luthier installed the pickup he accidentally crossed a wire with the solderless connections? Could it be a total pickup issue? I would just take it to my luthier but I moved 2 states away. Hope yall can throw a few things at me to look at or maybe even give me a few luthiers names in the Raleigh, NC area that I could get to look at my guitar.
Thanks,
Dan
Dan it could be all of the above.Add dirt,a hair.Bring it to someone and have the pre-amp plug cleaned and checked over.In the move the guitar could have taken a bump and if there was a poor solder joint it my now be showing its self.I'm sure some of our Raleigh,NC area members can suggest someone to bring it too.
most probably a grounding problem.. somewhere the preamp is leaking power to ground. contact fishman and ask for thier help. Also, I would recommend duracell 9v's for the pickup. They seem to maintain a higher voltage longer.
It goes without saying that you are not leaving the cord plugged into the endpin jack...
Mark Kane of Fat Sound Guitars in Cary N.C. is excellent!!!!!! You won't go wrong with him.
Harry's guitar Shop of Raleigh should take care of you as well!
